Fringe Review-athon Begins Saturday
It’s that time again: once more, KC Stage is giving you continuous in-depth coverage of the KC Fringe Festival through the fringe.kcstage.com website.
From July 17 to August 7, fringe.kcstage.com will be online, offering show listings, reviews of shows, top-rated Fringe shows, and the chance to rate and review shows yourself!
Make your voice heard! Anyone can rate and review shows (free registration required), and for every Fringe review you post, you get entered into a contest for various goodies such as free subscriptions, t-shirts, and tickets to various performing arts productions!
The freebies continue, as current (and future) audition, performance, and event information listed on the KC Stage website – usually only accessible to paid subscribers of our print magazine – will be available for free to anyone going to www.kcstage.com during July 17 to August 7.
For followers of this blog, Fringe is a time of massive reviews on my end. My first year of partnering with Fringe, in 2006, I did 12 shows in 3 days. You can read my experiences in my three-part article “270 Minutes of Show” in the September 2006 KC Stage, written under my then-pseudonym TheatreDiva. I reviewed 10 shows in 2007, and 5 last summer.
This year, with the Fringe going ten days, I plan on beating my record and hitting at least 15 shows. That means 15 reviews, many of which will be posted on the same day. I hope this doesn’t scare you away, and things should be back to normal come August 1.
In the meantime, if you’re in the Kansas City area during Fringe, don’t hesitate to write reviews of your own. The KC Fringe Festival is a great place to see things you may not normally see. So get out there, and binge on Fringe!
