Let the weirdness continue! BBC America has announced that they have renewed Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency for a second season. Created by Max Landis and starring Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett, the series is a loos adaptation of the two novels from humor science fiction writer Douglas Adams.
Dirk (Barnett) is a holistic detective, believing that everything is connected. In the first episode, he runs across Todd (Wood), and decides that the universe set Todd in his path as an assistant on his current case, a murder that he was set to investigate by the victim three weeks before it had happened.
I wrote a recap of the first episode, and haven’t had a chance to get to the rest of the series yet, but enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. As I wrote, it feels like Adams at its core, and is hyper stylized in its production.
The ten-episode first season will be wrapping up on December 10, and the second season will also be ten episodes and premiere on BBC America in 2017.
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency airs on BBC America on Saturdays at 9/8 pm Central. For more information on the show, visit the official site.
