G33K Out: Geek Girls Part 2 — Sora Reyes
Episode 38: Geek Girls Part 2 — Sora Reyes
This is the second episode in my ongoing series where I interview women in the geek community about what their experiences were like, and their history as a fangirl.
Sora and I met thanks to the same Facebook Sherlock fan group I met the previous geek girl interview, Supriya Limaye. In fact, I had also interviewed Sora in 2014, while we both were in London at the time. However, Sora asked that I re-interview her since so much time had passed.
As Sora states in her introduction, she’s a content provider currently living in Yuma, Arizona, but has lived in both London and Los Angeles, among other locations. She’s a Baker Street Babe, and we talk Sherlock, Martin Freeman’s beard, and being a geek.
Basic show notes:
- Running time is 49 minutes, 55 seconds.
- The interview was recorded on December 8, 2018.
- General notes about the discussion/further reading:
- The Geek Girl interview page can be found here.
- She’s a member of the Baker Street Babes: you can get all their social media on their website.
- She mentions her work on the Nerdventurists: you can get social media information on that website as well.
- Here’s the infamous photo of Martin Freeman I reference.
- She can be found on Twitter here and Instagram here.
- The mid-show plug is from Lani Sarem, author of the Handbook for Mortals series, who was one of the people I interviewed in episode 29 at the red carpet for the movie Living Among Us.
- In this episode, “Angie Geeks Out” about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which I personally think is the best Spider-Man movie yet. Still playing at your local cineplex.
- Theme music is “Schoolyard Haze”, by Jari Pitkanen, which yay – apparently, the Free Music Archive is available for the near future.
