“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” – Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
That quote is on the official poster for the upcoming Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie. Based on the book of the same name ‘co-written’ by Seth Grahame-Smith, the film takes Jane Austen’s literary classic of tangled relationships, the prideful Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley), and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James), and adds what every classic work needs … zombies.
Written and directed by Burr Steels, the cast also includes genre favorites Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones).
The international trailer for the movie was released earlier this week, and can be viewed below.
I must admit – while I enjoyed the book, I felt it was a little too long and the joke got old very quickly. Here’s hoping the movie, which will inevitably have to cut certain aspects out to make a decent running time, will make that not an issue. And you have to admit – the ‘homage’ to the Colin Firth pool scene hinted in the trailer is bound to be hilarious. The movie is set to be released in February of 2016.
