The Museum of Science Fiction announced today that they are holding a competition for concept art for its 2015 Preview Museum. The museum, geared to open in Washington, DC in early 2017, is planning on building a temporary semi-permanent preview museum as a way to generate interest in the eventual finished project. Entries can be submitted between January 31 and February 28, 2015, with winners announced on March 16.
The final museum will have seven galleries, built around science fiction’s impact and various themes that resonate in the genre. Each gallery will have a winner, and category winners will be awarded $250. There’s also a $1,000 grand prize for an overall winner. There will also be a people’s choice award, as voted on the Museum of Science Fiction’s Facebook page for $250, and an Executive Director’s Award also for $250.
The contest is open to any artist, and there is a $10 submission fee for each entry. For more information about the contest, including the full set of rules and submission requirements, visit the Museum of Science Fiction’s contest website.
