The Longest Day Fundraiser – Round 3 Interview Announcements

article, Longest Day

And we’re so close to a full schedule. Here’s round 3, which includes a romance writer, TV writer, and a representative from the Alzheimer’s Association.

Angelique JurdMy first announcement will be the last interview of the day. Angelique Jurd is a good friend of mine from New Zealand. She’s an author who writes contemporary gay romance featuring sweet, sexy men with just a touch of sass.

Angelique has a degree in Media Studies and English Literature and is currently completing a Masters of Art (Media Studies) – focused on Dean Winchester. When she’s not writing or researching (or swearing at her computer) she likes cold champagne, hot coffee, neat whiskey, loud Springsteen, and the Winchester brothers kicking butt. She is pierced, painted, pansexual, and proud. We’ll actually be interviewing each other, since she has a journalistic past.

Josephine Green ZhangMy next person is another one I briefly worked with at the YouTube-based start up in 2015/2016.

Josephine Green Zhang is currently writing for television, and aspires to empower characters to rise above their circumstances and create their own happy endings – with a special focus on misfits and flawed, funny women.

Josephine has written for season 2 of Hulu’s Dollface as well as season 2 and 3 of BET’s First Wives Club. She also is a rotating podcast host for WGA’s Third and Fairfax — interviewing other TV and feature screenwriters about their journeys and work behind the scenes. She has also developed an unproduced, animated action kung-fu fantasy for Netflix and written two unproduced feature films for Universal. We’ll talk about what it’s like writing for TV, how it’s different (and the same) from other writing, and the need for representation on screen.

Nina MoussaviFinally, Nina Moussavi has graciously offered her time to speak to me during this fundraiser. She is the Director of Public Policy and Advocacy, Region 3 for the Alzheimer’s Association, Southern California.

Nina is a bar-licensed attorney in DC, and has worked several campaign cycles, both successful and unsuccessful, and enjoys teaching others the lesson’s that she learned. As a member of the Board of Directors for the National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition, Nina ran their national grassroots advocacy and lobbying strategy. She has trained grassroots advocates from across the country about how to get involved in the civic process and advocate for the issues that mattered to them. In her free time, Nina does pro-bono legal work with non-profit organizations that deal with domestic violence and civil rights issues. We’ll talk about the geekier aspects of advocacy, how you can advocate, and the state of Alzheimer’s today.

I have another line of people to announce and am just waiting to get headshots and bios before writing it up. A reminder I’ll be streaming this live on YouTube. You can see all the information about it, including how to donate and tune in, on this page of my website. Stay tuned and stay geeky!
