The denizens of Night Vale – not content with having one book that jumped to Amazon’s top 10 list within hours of being released for pre-orders and hit #4 on The New York Times Best Seller list – have continued their goal of world domination by announcing not one, not two, but three new books to be released into the wild, only to survive through help from the Glow Cloud and literal five-headed dragon Hiram McDaniels, among others.
According to the announcement in their newsletter, writers Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor (who I was lucky enough to interview in March 2014) are working on a second Night Vale novel, no current release date at the moment. In addition, in fall of this year, they will be releasing two volumes of podcast scripts. These books will comprise the first two years of the podcast, and also includes exclusive behind-the-scenes commentary from the writers and the voice of Night Vale, Cecil Baldwin, as well as special guests, and include illustrations by Jessica Hayworth.
The first book is still available to purchase (in both book format as well as audiobook, read – of course – by Cecil Baldwin) – through many locations. And, of course, the podcast is still going strong, their live shows continuing with tours. Information on the book, tours, and podcast can be found on the Welcome to Night Vale website.
