LA Comic Con 2025: Sean Abley and the Appeal of Queer Horror
If you did a Venn diagram of the queer community and horror fans, there would be a major overlap—that’s not a new revelation. From James Whale to Ed Wood, horror films have had ‘queer coding’ to represent themes that resonate. Read the interview at The Geekiary.
LA Comic Con 2025: Avi Roque and Trans Masculine Representation in Entertainment
On screen representation of minorities has been shown to be important: not only to help broaden the minds of those who may not encounter that minority in real life, but also to help people from those minority groups see themselves in a positive manner. Read the interview at The Geekiary.
LA Comic Con 2025: Twenty-Sided Tavern Panel and David Carpenter – Interview
When the COVID lockdowns hit, the performing arts scrambled to figure out ways to keep their audiences engaged. Some did virtual shows, others did talks and panels with creatives, and some came up with inventive ways to do something new. Read the interview at The Geekiary.
WonderCon 2025 Interview: Legion M’s ‘Fade to Black’
How far would you go to get a movie made in Hollywood? That is the basic plot behind the upcoming thriller Fade to Black. The cast and crew were at WonderCon promoting one of Legion M’s latest projects and participated in a roundtable interview. Read the article at The Geekiary.
WonderCon 2025 Interview: Ashley Maria of ‘Super Human Anxiety’
A young girl stands on an elevator, holding a plastic cup. The doors open, and there are a lot of her fellow students. Staring. When she asks if they are going up, they scoff and complain that they are now going to be late. The girl suddenly breaks the cup in her hand.
So opens the short film Super Human Anxiety. Screening as part of the Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival at this year’s WonderCon, the nine-minute movie is a charming venture into anxiety and how to manage it. Read my interview at The Geekiary.
WonderCon 2025 Interview: Artist Randal “R.K.” Milholland
Something*Positive is a ‘day in the life’ webcomic that follows the main character of Davin MacIntire and his group of friends. Started in 2001, it is loosely based on the life and friends of creator Randal “R.K.” Milholland, and is darkly funny, skewering everyone and everything it can. It is sweet and sad and preposterous and honest: sometimes all at once. Read the interview at The Geekiary.
WonderCon 2025 Interview: Andy Nordvall, Kaj Kunstmann, and Bad Future Vol. 1
Andy Nordvall understands that crowdfunding an anthology comic that is dystopian science fiction might be an odd choice in today’s political environment. “It’s funny you mentioned that, because it was less relevant when we started,” he said with a laugh. “There was this moment of like, ‘Should we do this?’ People can just open up a news thing.” Read the full interview over at The Geekiary.
PaleyFest 2025: ‘Agatha All Along’ Panel
“The Ballad of the Witches’ Road” may have been sung, but that doesn’t mean the celebration is over. This year’s PaleyFest also had a panel celebrating ‘Agatha All Along’ on March 22, 2025. I had the opportunity of attending the panel (and witnessing the red carpet beforehand). Read the full write-up at The Geekiary.
PaleyFest 2025: ‘Cobra Kai’ Panel
After six years, the dojo is finally closed. Cobra Kai, the series with a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has ended its run on its own terms. On March 22, 2025, the series was celebrated at this year’s PaleyFest and I was lucky enough to attend the event. Read the write up over at The Geekiary.
LA Comic Con: Interview with Chris Heintz with One More Game
I’ve been a gamer since gaming was an option. From playing my family’s Intellivision (you could STEAL SECOND in the baseball game!) to joining the ranks of people playing Animal Crossing on my Switch, I have spent many hours gaming for enjoyment. Read the interview at The Geekiary.
